Hi,
I own a DIR-835 and I repeatedly have hardware failure of the device; in that I mean that the wired ports fail after days to weeks and sometime the wireless fails to.
As this has happened to me 3 times I'm wondering if my physical environment is the problem. Before you say "yes" I have a number of computers in the environment and no other system has problems so perhaps the DIR-835 is "more sensitive" then most?
I also have the router in a configuration where the router is not actually used. I am only using the wired ports/switch (not the port to the "WAN") and wireless as I already have a router for that. i.e. I'm using the DIR-835 as a wireless access point and wired access point rather and not using the routing functions.
Is it possible that not having electrical connection to the WAN port could introduce electrical instability?
I really like the DIR-835 when it goes but mine has been terribly unreliable. Fortunately my supplier has been happy to replace the unit under warranty when it fails but I'm getting tired of this...
Any pointers much appreciated!

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
Has a Factory Reset been performed?
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
Any network switches installed?
Disconnect the router from the ISP modem and use only 1 wired LAN pc. Does the PC connect to the routers web page? Ping the routers IP address from a command line.
Check cable between Modem and Router and PCs, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAT6)
If you have experienced this issue on multiple routers, and they seem to keep malfunctioning, it would seem that the issue lies elsewhere, up stream on the WAN side on the router or down stream on the LAN site.
You might take this router to a different location, friend, family's or another place and check to see how it works there and see if the problem follows.
