Hello - as you can tell from my name, I'm quite new at configuring routers and have been up to 1am the past few nights using trial and error. I'd appreciate advice/guidance from someone who has tried to solve this problem!
I was given a free router by my ISP (WNDR4000) and flashed DD-WRT on to the device following the instructions on the DD-WRT website. I did this so I could configure a VPN on the router to allow access to certian material I'm blocked from viewing (I'm an expat in China).
Now, since I have a spare DIR-655 router, I was considering positioning that router in our living room, linking it wirelessly to the WNDR4000 in our study to serve as a wireless access point to the WNDR4000 SSID (the internet connection). I want to do this because our apartment has insanely thick walls and the signal strength is weak in that room.
I humbly ask for advice on how to go about setting this up (if its even possible) so that the DIR-655 access the internet through the VPN established on the WNDR4000 router and acts as a repeater/access point. I've done a lot of reserach on this topic over the past few days, but fear its a bit beyond my technical skill set.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take the time to respond.
