I have a DIR 655 (FW 1.21) and DWA 142 with the latest drivers. When I run the combo in mixed g/n mode I have connection problems not just with the computer connected to the DWA 142 (an older HP Digital Entertainment Center 545 model, I believe) but also cannot maintain good connection with a new HP laptop that has built-in 802.11G. If I drop back to G mode, all is fine, except I can't stream movies very well out to the Entertainment Center from my network hard drive. I have strong signal, usually see connections at 300mbps, but then things go wonky, and I can't get a G or N connection. Again, drop back to G and all is well. Haven't tried it in pure N mode, but I need G compatibility for my other wireless products that are G only.
Any ideas?

change the width? if it's 20/40 auto, try 20 only.
My room mate had her laptop sent away to get a new hard drive, but before that, it woud connect fine on N only and connect with N on g/n. Using the intel 4895 chipset, or whatever it is. Now that its back, it just will not connect using N.
It's sad, because I dont know if Sony did something to the laptop, like left one of the antenna's unhooked or if it's something to do with the 1.22 firmware. blah!

Thanks for the idea. Where does one change the width in the settings. I looked earlier before posting and didn't see it.
I will look again.

On the Setup Page, Wireless settings, Manual Wireless Network Setup.
