Title: 15 Character Username Limit
Post by: dns-320.user on June 06, 2013, 04:43:17 AM
I've successfully setup an FTP share on my web server that runs cpanel X. I want my DNS-320 (v2.03) to, as advertised before I bought the unit, periodically download whatever shows up in that share using the "FTP/HTTP Downloads" application. After I entered the URL, username, and password on the NAS, I clicked the Test button to make sure I typed everything in correctly...

I got a message that said the username can only be 15 characters or less

cpanel requires that FTP usernames follow the user@domain.com format. My username and domain are not unnecessarily long, in fact, that example I just provided is exactly 15 characters long. Has anyone faced a similar problem? Is there a reason for this character limit? Can D-Link issue a patch to remedy?

thanks for continuing to update that 32 page list... :-D

So, this NAS has been discontinued for nine months now. Should I hold on to these units and expect another FW revision? Or should I spend my money elsewhere?

Phased out only for h/w revision A and there is still support which include new firmware release. But I wouldn't be holding high hope as it may suffer the same fate as DNS-323, its software support ended 1yr after it was phased out.

my sticker says h/w revision A1 (factory firmware 2.0). I'll call tech support and see what they have to say.
