Just went from this setup: DIR-655 (A2 - 1.31NA) to LinkSys WET54G (v.3.1)
with a TV box/mediaplayer and a XBOX360 (Cat 6 cables)
(Transfer speeds with 3 to 4 GB movies = 600-800 kb/s)
(Streaming movies with stutter each 3-4 minutes)
Went to this setup: DIR-655 (A2 - 1.31NA) to DAP-1522 (A1 - 1.20)(Bridge mode)
with a TV box/mediaplayer and a XBOX360 (Cat 6 cables)
(Transfer speeds with 3 to 4 GB movies = 4.8-5.4 mb/s)
(Streaming movies - no stutter at all)
Distance between the DIR-655 and the bridge: 16 mtr or 52 feet through 3 pretty thik brick walls
Setup :
-WPA2
-AES
-802.11N ONLY
-20/40 MHz
-NO DHCP (I use static IP-addresses)
**** - this is fast ;D

Can anyone tell me about the 5 GHz band?
Will I get more bandwidth / speed if I switch to the DIR-855 with 5GHz together with the DAP-1522?
-
No, I tried with both routers.
Range of 5 GHz band is not as good as 2,4 GHz and speed is about 25% lower.
Compared DIR-655/ 2,4 and DIR-855 2,4/5 -> 10m and 1 wall: 6,5 MB/s /6 MB/s /5 MBs
(DIR-655 Firmware 1.31NA and DIR-855 Firmware 1.20NA beta - DAP-1522 Firmware 1.20eu)

I´ve tested a bit, and it seems your right about the 5 GHz lizzi...
I got shorter range and a bit slower throughput ... wonder why?
Whats the idea with the 5GHz band?....is it to minimize the high density af 2.4 GHz?
(would be plausible .. everybody in my neighbourhood has wirelees 2.4 GHz routers)

2.4GHz can penetrate through walls easier than 5GHz. 5GHz is a wider signal.. It should work fine in a wide open clean environment.

Thanx for the explenation
