Hi guys,
Need help with the 655.
The ISP is Cox with a Netgear router. The Netgear router is wireless and the connection is fine. But the range is limited.
I upgraded the Dlink firmware and went through the set up process and my router shows up on the WIFI but when I try to go online, the webpages do not come up. I get a "cannot connect error".
I am using a MacBook for this. I also have trouble with my iPhone. And when I connect with the Netgear router via cable and wireless, the internet it works.
Do I need to shut off the wireless function with the Netgear router, which I do not think is correct?
Please guide me.

- What region are you located?
Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
- If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>Double NAT (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm) and How NAT Works (http://cognitiveanomalies.com/cisco-nat-how-nat-works/). To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.

Can you draw us a diagram of your setup?
i.e. ISP modem> wired to Internet port on DIR-655>Client devices connected to 655?
Are you using the 655 as your main host router or is the ISP modem handling that?
-
That is correct:
ISP modem> wired to Internet port on DIR-655>Client devices connected to 655?
I would like to use the DLink as my main router.

You'll need to see if you can bridge the Netgear modem/router.
