Hello,
When I establish a vpn connection to my office via 868L router, the connection drop every 2 mins. I don't have this problem with my old DIR-655.
Any suggestion to setup the router for vpn connection?
Here is my current setting:
Firewall:
SPI enabled
UDP:TCP Endpoint Filtering: Endpoint Independent
Application Level Gateway Configuration: PPTP, IPSec, RTSP, SIP

- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
Did you have any specialized settings for the VPN on the 655?

FurryNutz,
Firmware Version:1.01 Fri 12 Apr 2013
and Im living in Hong Kong.
I don't have any special setting of my previous DIR-655. Just remember I have to enable PPTP.

Ensure your settings are correct and VPN service is set up correctly.
I recommend that you phone contact D-Link support, ask for level 2 or higher support. If nothing else has changed accept for the router, possible router issue.
Please let us know what they say.

Thanks for your advice.
I am asking the reseller as the local dlink website doesn't have a technical support info. :-[
And I hope reseller has the knowledge to fix this issue ?

Does D-Links Taiwan site have any support info?

Got the latest firmware FW101b06 from local Hong Kong distributor, and it fixed the vpn problem.
Before that, I asked taiwan offical technical support too, but they gave me the FW101b05, and it didn't fix the issue.
And I found something interesting, when I open BitTorrent and VPN together, the VPN will be disconnected.
I already disabled the "remote gateway" in my vpn profile, so it isn't the BT traffic cause the disconnection.
-
Sure it's not the Torrent program doing something?
-
my vpn connection use port 1723, and my BT use a 2xxxx port. I don't see a connection here.....
Before the DIR-868L, I use BT and VPN on DIR-655 without problem.
Anyway I don't mind to stop BT when I open VPN connection.

Could be how the 868L is handling them or how your torrents are configured in conjunction with this newer router.

Hi guys, I really need to get this solve asap. I really need to find a solution to fix this problem.
I need to forward the port to my synology nas, which has VPN build in. I tried to forward the port 1723 and keep saying that the port is not available something like that.

Have you tried using Virtual Server instead of PF?

Since this is the top google hit, i want to share.
I was having the same issue, vpn dropping after 2-5 minutes. windows vpn, pptp. i had messed with some settings on the 868l, but i believe it was only limiting 2.4 to use 20hz and set the channel to 1 manually. all AIG under firewall were enabled.
reset to factory settings fixed my issues. 1.09 FW - hw A --didnt even need the newer 1.10b04 fw
