I have a dir-615 rev C1. I've downloaded the new firmware from support.dlink.com but when I go to upload it to my router it says that it will not update because I have the wrong file.

Have you unzipped the file?
The firmware is in a zip file that contains the actual firmware and release notes. You cant just upload the zip

I have the same problem with a Dir-615 ver C1. Yes I DID unzip the file and still received the wrong file error. I then downloaded the upgrade again using a different computer but encountered the same wrong file error.
The only thing I have not tried is to reboot the router and then attempt the firmware upgrade. I have not tried the reboot since I am not having any problems at all. Why try to fix what is not broken.
Your comments would be appreciated.

Yeah, I unzipped the file. I'm familiar with the update process. The current router software just doesn't seem to want to go away. :)

Also, the newest firmware isn't posed on dlink.com just support.dlink.com.

I think that is why the router's update notifier does not show a new version available.

Dave, I don't know if you solved your problem as yet but it finally hit me to try the upgrade using Internet Explorer rather than Mozilla Firefox, which is my default browser.
The firmware update went through flawlessly using the IE browser. I should have thought of this sooner but I guess my 71 year old brain is getting slower.
Hope this helps.

I had been trying to update in Safari. I gave IE8 a shot and it worked just fine.
