Title: Using DWL-3140AP with the DES-1228
Post by: bnem on May 14, 2009, 09:41:10 AM
I'm pretty sure I made a mistake so I am looking for a solution to an existing issue.

I purchased two DWL-3140AP devices only to find that I can't use them without the DES-1228P. I noticed that D-Link has the DES-1228 and as far as I could tell there was really no difference except for PoE. I already bought PoE injectors for the DWL-3140AP devices so I figure the DES-1228 should work. I know now that that was my mistake. From what I understand from D-Link tech support the DWL-3140AP is only compatible with the DES-1228P.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the DWL-3140AP to work with the DES-1228? Anything please. I need to fix my mistake hopefully without anyone finding out that I even made a mistake in the first place.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately it is not possible.  That said whoever sold you this solution should have known this.

Any chance of swapping the DES-1228 for a DES-1228P?

Yeah I thought about that but the whole reason I went with the DES-1228 in the first place was to avoid a higher cost. The DES-1228P is double the cost of the DES-1228.

Thanks for your reply.
