Hi,
I have a DIR-505 in HotSpot mode. Setup done with the QRS app after a factory reset.
That works fine.
This DIR-505 in hotspot mode seems to use the same channel for the new hotspot as the acces point where it connects to.
Using a webbrowser and the configuration http://dlinkrouter pages, I wanted to change the channel, but there is no option to change the channel.
Did I overlook something or is it not possible to change the channel in this mode?
Regards,
Dre

Is there any information regarding this in the User Manual? I presume that there is a possibility that in HotSpot mode that changing channels may not be a feature supported on this model. :-\

There is no option for this on the 505.

Thanks, so I didn't overlook it. ;)
But too bad that this feature is not available.
Now the DIR-505 as hotspot disturbes the signal of the AP where it connects to ???

Dre

You could change the channel of the main host AP though. ;)

I am pretty sure that the 505 just uses the same channel as the AP. I have not found this to be a problem in actual use and you'll find it's quite common in larger installations for there to be multiple APs on a single channel, given that there are really only three non-overlapping channels to choose from in the 2.4MHz space (1, 6 and 11).

Ya it shouldn't be a problem if it's running in Repeater mode.

Or even in Hotspot mode. I use Hotspot mode and have never had a problem with "interference".
