Title: Download Firmware from DLINK Website
Post by: ttn234 on July 21, 2013, 01:25:42 PM
Hi,

I update my dir-868l with beta firmware v1.01 a couple months ago. For the last couple weeks, I see an official release firmware 1.01 on DLINK website. I don't know whether there is any different with my beta or not. I tried many times for a couple weeks to download it, but the sever seems not available (click the button, save as, turn off firewall, etc.). Is that DLINK just ftp site down for that long time? How can I get the official firmware? I keep getting wireless drop. I also sometimes cannot print to my 2 wireless printers. To fix it (reboot not working), I have to re-load the beta 1.0.1 again and again with the same configure file which I saved. Please help!!! Also, please check DLINK ftp site. Thanks.

Always use the main site links for your region.
If your having wireless problems, there could be other problems.

Review this and see if any of this can help and post your results and answers to the questions presented so we can get a better idea of your situation and give you better feedback:

Thanks for quick answers. I did try to download from http://www.dlink.com/us/ site, but it didn't work. I'll try tonight to download directly using Comcast router to see if DIR-868L block it.

Maybe something is wrong with my router. Before this, I used DIR-655 with loss connection one in awhile which is bearable. Now, since I have Comcast wireless router, I set it as a second router following the manual (p.11) with fix static ip address, disable DHCP, etc. The main thing for DIR-868L is to work as a replacement wireless for Comcast router. Is there any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Region: Texas, USA
ISP: Comcast
Modem: Arris TG862G/CT

Wireless from Comcast modem/router is not good. That is why I used it for a year (before I use DIR-655 with Comcast router without wireless). I think it's time to upgrade wireless so I bought DIR-868L. Thanks for any help.

Arris Cable Modems and External Routers (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50682.0)

Your modem is a gateway router I believe:

Lets see if we an get some info and try some suggestions:

Many thanks for quick answer (this is why I stopped using Linksys a couple years ago: very very poor support). I can download the firmware now. The problem is firewall in Comcast router (my fault). Comcast somehow updated the router and reset the firewall. For the printer problem, I don't know whether it's still there. To be safe, I reload the official firmware 1.01 now, even though I already got 1.01 from beta in April (don't know there is any change from beta to official one or not). Again, thanks.

I had problem again yesterday for wireless printing. My Canon ImageCLASS MF8380Cdw is connected with Dir-868L, but somehow I cannot send anything to my printer unless I re-flash Dir-868L with the firmware.

Are you following the FW update process?
Are you using Shareport to connect to the printer? If so, what version of SP are you using?

I followed the update process (I used dir-655 before and now dir-868L). For connection to printer, I use wireless. I just reload the driver for the printer (same driver) just in case. If there is any problem again, I'll update. Thanks for all suggestion.

Everything is fine with 1.01, but not 1.02 (see other post http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=55539.0. ).

And can you confirm for us that your ISP Modem is the gateway modem seen in the link and if the modem is bridged or not? I don't think this modem has any built in WiFi. Just need to confirm the model for the ISP modem.
