Title: DAP-1525 does not respond in AP mode
Post by: zoom1 on July 24, 2013, 06:35:00 AM
Hi,

I got DAP-1525 and trying to set it up as AP.
I set it up in the basement and hooked it up to my Dlink DIR-825 router located on a first floor of my house via cat5 cable to uplink (bottom) lan port.
I set the switch on the back to 5ghz. At the beginning I set everything in wireless setup manually. All the settings I copied from the router 5ghz wireless settings page including SSID, encryption... except channel. I found in the forum that it is recommended to set it to a different value. Eg http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41790.0

However, once I boot DAP-1525, I loose the connection to the 5ghz network (2.4 works fine) and I can not access DAP-1525.
Then, I tried WSP connection with the same success.

My next step was to try 2.4ghz, its on different SSID and all other settings are pretty much the same as in 5ghz. The result is the same, I loose connection to 2.4ghz network but, 5ghz works fine.

Once, I tried to set DAP-1525 and DIR825 to the same channel on 2.4ghz network it started to work.

I don't see big jump in the network signal in my basement. However the signal is coming from DAP-1525. I disabled the radio on the router just to check if signal is coming from DAP-1525 and, it does.

What do I do wrong here?

Thanks in advance for your help

Seems very odd that the 1525 is loosing connection or not broadcasting on same frequency as 825 however on different channel.

What channels are you using on the 825 and 1525?

How far apart are these two units?
