Hi, i'm having problem trying to connect 2 computer tru a windows VPN. I have check the other topic but my problems seems different.
Here is my setup:
Server running Win7 behind the DIR-655 - setup followed (http://www.howtonetworking.com/VPN/win7vpn1.htm)
Client running Vista behind a WBR-2310 - setup (http://armenianeagle.com/2007/03/18/setting-up-a-vpn-connection-on-vista/)
For the sake of n00b error, software firewalls on both computer are off.
DNS and IP are not an issue
First wierd thing, if port fwd for PTPP-1723 is done in the Virtual Server, i get error 733 which means that the server was not found, if port is done in Port Forwarding, the connection is working and i get the 806 error code, which is authentification.
Now i know this is related to GRE-47. Now even if a create a rule correctly (either portfwd or virtual server), my router log tell me that the packets was refused:
[INFO] Fri May 15 15:00:51 2009 Blocked incoming GRE packet from x.x.x.x to y.y.y.y
Why is it still blocking the GRE packet? i don't know but that make me more than certain that the problem is not the software configuration on either the 2 computers.
Now i tried to remove SPI, to DMZ my computer, disable anti-spoof, changing NAT endpoint filtering, disabling various ALG, nothing seems to work or i didn't find the correct combination. Maybe is has to do with Windows7 ? i'm kind of lost here.
thanks a lot

You can try putting the server in DMZ (so there's no need to configure a [prt forward or virtual server), but that's not the most ideal solution. Can you state how your router firewall is configured?
Some Linksys routers suffer from the same issue. You can also send a PM to Lycan or the other Dlink mods asking him if this is a known error (I don't know).

Which router is reporting the GRE packet drop?
