Title: DIR 825 rev.A1 fw1.14
Post by: BiggB20042001 on August 11, 2013, 10:03:31 PM
Just wondering has anyone tried out fw 1.14 on the dlink support page released on 6/18/2013. I have never upgraded my router but am wondering if any improvements or problems with newest firmware.

I see that v1.14 only corrects a problem with Samsung Galaxy S4 phones that was a problem across some of the DIR series routers. If you don't have this phone then I recommend keeping what is loaded currently on the router.

The reason I'm starting to look at this fw upgrading is that my 5ghz channel is just alittle too weak. I was thinking maybe i should try updating. Do you have any advise on what I could do to make it better

I have pretty much done most of the things you have mentioned. What I was hoping was maybe they boosted the signal up alittle more in the fw update.... Wish I had a rev.B so I could try out that ww-drt fw I been seeing people talk about online but I got rev.A1 thats not supported.

What is the distance between the client HW and the router?

Its one room away. I have a ps3 i use the 2.4ghz g which works fine but for everything else i connect the 5ghz channel just doesn't reach very far.

Single mode N WPA2/AES only on channel 36?
Happens with different devices as well?

Possible that the power on the radio's are not as high maybe as they could be. Rev A is a Draft N router I think.  :-\

Would you happen to know a router that can send simultaneous 2.4 & 5ghz that has a stronger output range. I've been looking at the Asus rt-ac66u cause thats what people are saying is the best new router.

Been enjoying the DIR-826L which is similar to the 825 and I consider a good follow on to the 825. Just has Cloud services and has wonderful range on it. I was highly impressed by it when I first got it. All the newer L series routers have new amps and higher signals.
