On problem I had was on v1.02 with my 2Tb WD My Book USB 2.0 on Mac OSX 10.7.5 and 10.8.3. Would not work with SharePort. I haven't re-tested since v1.04 has come out. I'll try and run a quick test after work today. It worked with Windows 7x64. I don't think USB 3.0 should effect anything...

Thank you for your reply. As far as I understood that 2TB HDD drive will be seen by roater normally and that the HDD can be accessed both from Windows PC and Smart TV Samsung using Wi-fi connection.
Please comment.

I can confirm that my 2Tb WB My Book 2007 USB 2.0 works on my DIR-826L loaded with v1.04 FW. I was able to connect to it in Windows 7x64 Explorer using \\192.168.0.1\USB_A1 and it was listed in Media Player and was able to view and watch one tested one video file. It took several minutes for the router to catalog the file content and bring the drive to access ready in media player since i have alot stored on it. However it did come up and works.

You'll need to refer to the Laptops and TVs Mfr on how to configure those devices for WiFi operation. Set up can vary and not the same.

You have set up the routers WiFi SSID name and password already?

yes, sure

and all devices connected to Internet perfectly.

But, I want, that laptop and TV for example
can connect via Wi-Fi to 2tb HDD,
connected to DIR-826 Router via USB.

So, I want to use my USB HDD, connected to router, like Network drive.

Is it possible ?

If I want to connect Samsung Smart TV to DIR-826L
I need media server with DLNA support on the router.
If I am right ?

So I need to upgrade my firmware from v1.00
to v1.02 or v1.04.

How I can upload v1.04 on v1.00,
beacuase I have no success.

Thank you.

 I recieved only error message

The only one I see and is recommended for your region is located here:
ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-826L/Firmware/DIR826LA1_FW101RUB01BETA02.bin (ftp://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-826L/Firmware/DIR826LA1_FW101RUB01BETA02.bin)

However the German web site has a more recent version if you want to try it:
http://www.dlink.com/de/de/support/product/dir-826l-cloud-gigabit-router-n600 (http://www.dlink.com/de/de/support/product/dir-826l-cloud-gigabit-router-n600)

Please follow the FW update process here:
FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

Use FF and do a factory reset before and after sending the FW. BE LAN WIRED to the back of the router.
Disable any 3rd party PC security software temporarily while doing this process.

I have tried this one
>>>The only one I see and is recommended for your region is located here:
>>>ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-826L/Firmware/DIR826LA1_FW101RUB01BETA02.bin

But this is v1.01 and also I have problem with Wi-Fi speed with v1.01 version.

I am also tried 1.04b07 from DE
>>>However the German web site has a more recent version if you want to try it:

but recieve error
>>>Upload Failed
>>>The uploaded firmware file may not be correct.

Do you know any other ways to upload firmware?
Because using of standart WEB Interface just show errors for version v1.02 and above.
But I have no any problem with v1.00 and v1.01

You could try this and load the v1.04 version:
Emergency Recovery Mode (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=44909.0)

If you decide you want to try this, Get the v1.04 file from here:
http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/support/product/dir-826l-cloud-gigabit-router-n600 (http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/support/product/dir-826l-cloud-gigabit-router-n600)

The German site is only a language pack FW and I think you don't need that one.

That's what I meant
>>> Emergency Recovery Mode

Will try and let you know
Title: Re: Max HDD for DIR-826L

I have install v1.04 from
http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/support/product/dir-826l-cloud-gigabit-router-n600

All OK.
And now, I have "Media server" bar in the vertical menu of the DIR-826L web interface.
media serve are "Enabled"

But it is strange, that after upgrading to v1.04 my Internet settings in the router was not reseted.
and also my password the same as before.

The main - is that Samsung Smart TV still do not see USB hard drive, connected to DIR-826L

It is cleary stated, that "Enhanced UPnP AV Media Server (DLNA) support" in DIR-826L FW v1.04NA Official Release

But, how I can use this function ?

If you can see items on a PC and not the TV, problem may be with the TV.

I recommend you find out what kind of file support it handles and if the TV is actually supporting this feature and if it's working or not.

Glad you got v1.04 EU installed.

Yes, but on PC I Just put \\192.168.0.1
like network folder

On TV I Should use DLNA function of the router.

How I can check DLNA function of the router on PC but not on TV

Load up Windows Media Player, The router and the contents of the USB drive should appear and be playable there...
Title: Re: Max HDD for DIR-826L
Post by: alxalx on September 07, 2013, 02:52:20 PM
Now, I can see my router using DLNA
from TV and also from PC (Windows media player)

But, no any content (no video, foto etc)

the same thing from TV and from PC

Also - it is strange,
if HDD not connected to router - PC and TV can see DIR-826L using DLNA.
But, if you connect HDD to router, TV and PC will "lost connection"
And, if you will disable and after that enable Media server in the router web interfaice
you will see DIR-826L using DLNA, but still no any content

What are the source files being loaded on the HDD?
Be sure the content and media is supporting of the files you place on the HDD.
Example, MP4, JPG, MP3...
Check the Mfr of the TV for what they support.

TV support all file types from HDD or 90% of them.

The problem is, that the PC using Windows Media player also can see only DIR-826 by DLNA
and do not see any content from HDD.

Hmm, I think we need to get on the phone with you regional D-Link support office and inquire for some more help on this. Not sure why the content isn't being seen.

Please keep us posted on this.

Update.

I tried to connected USB flash drive 8GB to router - all works OK.

NTFS or FAT - both OK.

So, the problem is with connecting of my HP 2TB drive.

It is works ok for \\192.168.0.1
but lost connection of DLNA for smart TV , PC and other devices.

I presume that the drive may not be supported for that size then.  :-\

Supported by Router, but not suppoted by DLNA or router has problem with DLNA with big drive connected.

Like i said, probably a size thing. If DLNA and the smaller drive is working, I presume its a drive size thing. Officially, 500Gb is supported by D-Link. Anything above that, would be a  k r a p shoot.

And another problem, after update to v1.04
I have everyday problem with Internet connection.
It is looks like router lost connection with INternet one rime in about 24 hours.

After I torn off/on router, all works ok.

Sorry for long delay

I have rechecked all topic from the beginning
and
you says, that
>>>>

So, I have already >>> connect to it in Windows 7x64 Explorer using \\192.168.0.1\USB_A1 and
It is ok.

But, I have no success in >>> it was listed in Media Player and was able to view and watch one tested one video file.

So it is not working using DLNA

Please let me know, if your 2TB drive have only one logical drive or separated for two or more?
Thank you.

Mine is physical two drives that are logical 1 drive only. I used WDs proprietary utility and maximized the drive space for 2Tb that they supported.
