Title: Switching to DIR-835, Help please :(
Post by: tiim_ on August 18, 2013, 10:12:09 PM
Hi,

I switched my old dir-615 to dir-835.

My internet modem is a netgear ADSL2+ modem. (DM111P)

The internet works fine on the dir-615, no issues what so ever.

But when I plug it into the dir-835, no internet connection what so ever.

Is it a compatibility issue? But just thinking at this day and age, that shouldn't really be a problem?

I have tried everything I could possibly do, restarted all modems, reseted all modems, changed cables, booted up with the correct procedures, used the CD that came with the dir-835, updated firmware.

It did work at the very beginning but only for a week, then now I haven't been able to get it back connected to the internet. It's not a faulty product because I've already swapped it.

I'm not a complete know it all for these things but I'm not an ***** either.

So any help or reply will be extremely appreciative.

So hopefully it's just a few setting i have to adjust.

Cheers for your time!

Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41537.0)

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

I recommend bridging the DSL modem. Also the DSL modem may already use 192.168.0.1 as a default modem web page address which D-Link routers use as well, you'll need to possibly change the 835's default router address from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1.

Done all of that. No prevail. Tried so many other options aswell.

I thought maybe upgrading things can be much easier. I guess not.

3rd Party Security Software Configurations

Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8 or 9, set compatibility mode and test again.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection
