Title: Disconnection from DSL modem
Post by: aln688 on May 17, 2009, 05:50:59 PM
Has anyone noticed with DIR-655, Hardware A3 and Firmware 1.31, after a day or so of successful browsing the internet, the router will disconnect from your DSL or Cable modem?

I have DSL and if I look at the Status page, the router disconnects from the DSL modem. If I click Connect to reconnect, it thinks about it for a few seconds, then doesn't connect.

From what I've tried a Reboot of the router seems to reconnect it again for 10 or 15 minutes.

Thanks.

Not sure but kinda sounds like the same issue people are having in the Router Freeze post.

If you start logging /capturing the traffic between the two you can find out which of the devices initiates the connection termination.

Good idea about checking the logging. It's odd this problem. I also have a basic Dell laptop from a few years ago with a Wireless G chipset in it. If the laptop connects to the router and downloads files for an hour or so, all is great. As soon as my mid-tower desktop connects (with it's DWA-556 inside) and I download files, suddenly the router disconnects from the DSL modem. If it's the laptop on its own, everything is fine, as soon as I connect to the router, then do a large download, the router disconnects.
