Title: DIR-657 media server question
Post by: Bitman on August 24, 2013, 02:59:35 AM
Hi,

From my Sony-Bravia TV, I can access the DIR-657 media server, and watch the photo's on the SD-card in the router. But there is a problem with accessing the media on my external HDD (Samsung - 1 TB), which is connected to the router's USB port. The media server is visible on the TV, but the folders are empty.
The external HDD is accessible from my PC with Shareport Plus.
The SD-card format is FAT32 and the external HDD format is NTFS.
Is only FAT32 supported by the DIR-657 media server ?
Is there a limit on the amount of bytes stored (SD-card = 270Mb; HDD = 370Gb) ?
Any settings that I missed besides enabling the media server ?

Thx

Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41537.0)

Seen some proprietary formatting not working while using NTFS.

Can you try formatting in FAT32 and test?
Official support drive sizes are 500Gb however some higher do work with out any problems.

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.

Hi,

How did you make the media server visible from your TV? I have a Samsung 32UE6100 Smart TV and I can not see the router or media server. I can access the external HDD only from my PC, not from the TV. can anyone help me with the settings?
