Hi, i just got my hands on these small babies http://www.banggood.com/HC-SR501-Human-Infrared-IR-Motion-Detector-Sensor-Module-p-76463.html (http://www.banggood.com/HC-SR501-Human-Infrared-IR-Motion-Detector-Sensor-Module-p-76463.html) and I wonder if i can use them as external PIR sensors to my DCS-2230 IP cam? Can the DCS-2230 handle the sensor with power and detect the DI signal at the same time or do I have to use external power for the PIR sensor module?

Just want to let you guys know that it works like a charm! No more false alarms and it does not trigger the alarm when the IR cut is activated!
This is how I made it:
The DCS-2230 (never mind the wires)

An electrical IP65 box witch I prepared for the Fresnel lens.

The Pyroelectric Infra-red PIR Motion Sensor Detector Module HC-SR501

The result, mounted outside on the wall, well protected from dust and rain.

So I don't get what the idea is here.....The dlink camera already has a PIR sensor in it. Why not use the embedded one?
So did you replace the embedded one with yours? How you program the sensitivity?
What was the motivation for doing this?

True, the PIR sensor works well, but I have my cam pointed outside, standing behind a window which makes the built in sensor pretty useless as the PIR works poor through glass. With this external PIR sensor I managed to get real alarms day as night. And about he sensivity, well the HC-SR501 have 2 potentiometers, one for sensitivity and one for how long the trigger will last.

Can you please post the PIN-Outs? I need to know what pins go to what.
Thanks!

Don't remember to bee honest. :(

To connect a PIR sensor to a light circuit, you will need to use a 4-core screened cable for the interconnection. The circuit should then be powered from a regulated 12VDC solar power box or adaptor. The switching mosfet (T1) is wired as the mini electronic timer.

hey
I have a DCS-2132L and have successfully hooked up the same external PIR sensor. Let me know if you're still wanting the wiring info.
cheers

Yes, please post it. Its been a while but I refuse to buy cloud cameras from d-link so i will be buying more of the DCS-2230.
Thanks.

Isn't the information in the user manual? You can download it online.

Hi can you tell me how you connect external PIR to DCS-2132L ?? I have an external led with PIR activated all day plus a external DCS-2132L and I would like record as soon as led light turns on
Thanks in advance for info
