Just Register to say:
WOW, what a big update. Just bought this on a retail store here in Portugal...
I was thinking of buying this, but this forum was way to scary and delayed the buy decision until now.
Just one important thing missing: PTZ support for the Synology Surveillance Station, it's only the ZOOM it lacks. :-\

Just updated synology concerning this issue, with a technical report.
"Dear Sir,
Don't know if you notice but on D'link forum related to there IP camera model DCS-5222L.
One of the features people are asking for is the PTZ capability for synology NAS.
They just release a new firmware that add's a lot of the major features that consumers demand, but one of the missing points is:
- PT and Z support for the Synology Surveillance Station.
I think that this is a synology issue, rather that dlink, can you take a look at it?
Remember that right now, this camera is the second best selling camera from Dlink consumer cameras. (you can see that on dlink's poll in that same forum)

I upgraded my camera today to the latest firmware.
Upgrade was smooth, the firmware uploaded and installed, the camera restarted and my entire configuration was retained. I went through everything and all of my settings were preserved, I didn't have to tweak or change a thing.
I haven't noticed any major changes, though the entire live view page seems to scale when you change streams to match the resolution of the image. I can't remember if it did that in the previous version, as I always look at the 1280x720 stream on my desktop.
Overall the upgrade was smooth, simple and glitch free and the camera seems to be performing as well as it was before the upgrade. I've read the release notes and while the changes are extensive, I'm unlikely use many of them because I don't anything that fancy with the camera. If you're hesitant to upgrade, don't be, it appears to be a very stable release.

Thanks. I might give it a try. Should be better than the bricking that happened on the last f/w.

Thank you for contacting Synology Support.
After we consulted with related developers, the DLINK DCS-5222L don't have the optical zoom function as default.
You could refer to the following link and the attached picture.

Or, could you please offer us some related pages about the zoom functionality of DCS-5222L?
If you have further questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us again.

What this means, is that they cannot control a camera Z without an optical lens /motor. The only way to make it work on the DCS-5222 is to give synology developers a way to control the digital zoom the same way has a mechanical zoom. For my knowledge the implementation of this program is simple.

After I updated the mydlink Lite app to version 3.1.0 (08 September 2013) I am now unable to have a 2 way communication through my iphone. A pop message appeared requesting to upgrade to the new firmware. But my camera is already on the latest firmware (version 1.11). Before updating the app to version 3.1.0, I had no problem communicating using the app.
Does anybody faced the same problem ? I suspect there is a bug in the latest app version. Can anybody confirm this ?

"[New Feature] Support no separated file on SD recording trigger by motion"
HOW?! I do not see this option after installing 1.11... I still only have values "1" thru "6" under "Recording Length" under "SD Recording". :-\

I do have the v1.10 bin-file dropped in my (drop)box if you need it.
Check: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/20804642/dLink_Forum/update_DCS-5222L_1.10_2729.bin (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/20804642/dLink_Forum/update_DCS-5222L_1.10_2729.bin)
I updated my firmware during this post and it seems to work just fine with Firefox 23.0.1 (which is now updating to 24 8) The 24 version also works fine, perhaps it is your Java version or anything). But in case you need it, v1.10 is there to catch at least till the first of November '13.

I tried using IE10.
In IE10 I still only only see options "1" to "6" under the "Recording Length" option under "SD Recording" and see no way to turn off separated files.

I upgraded my DCS-5222L camera to firmware 1.11 and now it is DCS-5211L(no wifi anymore) !!
I downgraded to older firmware versions but it is still DCS-5211L
How can I solve this problem ?

Since I do not have a lot false positives it took a while before I bumped into a bug, as I believe it is.
I have a 2 GB SD Card in my cam which works fine until the 'Keep Free Space' value is reached.
First I had it set on 500MB, later on I changed it to 200MB. Both values result in an unreachable camera.
The only solution is to unplug the power supply. Difficult when you are not there.
To fully inform you, Cyclic is set True.
Does anyone else have this experience too ?
Thanks!

Hi,
I have a DCS-5222L with Firmware version 1.11 and the latest version of mydlink lite for iphone
In the "setup->snapshot" menu I have enabled "Trigger by" "motion"
When I set to off motion detection from my iphone app, I see in the "setup->snapshot" menu that the "Trigger" becomes "Always" instead of staying "by motion" and I start getting periodic alerts.
It was not like this in the first firmware of this camera.
I would expect the trigger by option to remain "motion" as it happens for the video
Is this some kind of known issue?
Thanks
Fab
