Hello All:
Just a quick question:
I noticed that on my DNS-321, the tall center blue light starts on when I first power the unit up, and then goes off after a few minutes of idle time. Then when I access the unit, it comes on again.
Is this light related to when the hard drives are spinning? If so, I like this for it tells me when the drives are spinning and when they are idle. Again, this is the center tall blue light and not the lower small lights.
I seemed to notice this when I upgraded the firmware from 1.00 to 1.01. Is this new to version 1.01?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
John

I believe when the lights are off the unit has the drive spun down or otherwise in "Sleep" mode. Power/drive saving feature.

My center blue light is always on and I have it setup to power down the drives after 5 minutes which they do. Other then looking pretty I have no idea what it does.

The Tall Center Blue LED is design the tell you the status of the unit. If it is off the device is in hibernation and will flash while booting up or down.

Thank you all for your replies. It now makes sense in how it works.
