Title: Truly separate WLAN from Guest Zone
Post by: tweberis on September 16, 2013, 11:24:16 PM
IN my DIR-855 (and now my 868L) I have never been able to truly separate the WLAN from Guest Zone as it relies on sharing DNS/DHCP.

Very similar to http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=22700.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=22700.0) I am wondering if there will be an option for separate DHCP/DNS options for Guest zone in the future?

**Update

I was testing my configurations tonight and noted that whenever I connect to my guest zone without "routing between zones", I get a completely different set of IP addresses routed to the WAN. Just wanted to share.

Probably not. Thanks for sharing. I do know that you can change the IP address pool strings now which are separate from the main DHCP server pool.

Where can you change the IP pool settings that you mention? I only see the main settings under "network settings" but no other alternates.

For example, my configuration has DHCP turned off, LAN set to 10.10.10.0/24, router IP at 10.10.10.1, and DHCP scope of 10.10.10.50-10.10.10.100 handled through my internal DHCP server.

I note that my Guest Zone is getting a 192.168.7.0/24 configuration and the router is handling all of this.

If this is just an unpublished change from how prior devices (such as my 855) used to work, I am extremely thankful as it does truly separate my networks and protect my data.

Any GZ IP addresses changes are under the Guest Zone section I believe.

Thanks. No option to change any GZ IP settings but none the less I am extremely happy. Having its own separate subnet when routing is disabled is all I need.

Enjoy.
