Title: DIR-655 not connecting without Vonage modem
Post by: FalconOne on September 17, 2013, 07:41:40 PM
??? Hello D-Link forum. I am trying get the DIR-655 router to hook my computer to the internet without going through the vonage modem. When the wiring is as follows. Cable modem--DIR655 router --vonage modem--computer. All works fine. If i plug the computer directly into the router, I have an internet connection icon in the tray but the computer is dead slow or gives a timeout error. My goal is to get the computer to work directly off the the router so i can install a few wireless IP cameras. If this makes any sense a little help pointing me in the right direction please. Try putting the Vonage devices IP address into the DMZ of the 655 router.

The problem arises when the computer is plugged directly into the router. shows connected but either times out or takes forever to load. When the computer goes through the vonage modem it works just fine. There is no problem with the vonage modem it works in either config. Seems to be with the comp being plugged directly to the router. Thanks for the help. ???

Try some of this:
Router Troubleshooting Suggestions and Tips (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=54498.0)

Might set up a reserved IP address ON the router for the PC. Ensure any network adapter card drivers are updated too. Swap out cabling as well. CAT 6 is recommended.

Good Luck.
