Title: Switching from DNS-323 to DNS-325 - HD Question
Post by: jesuzaineordonez on September 22, 2013, 11:48:11 AM
I'm switching over my HDs from a 323 over to a 325 solely for the purpose of being able to use Time Machine on the 325. I have 1 HD with all my stuff in it & another blank HD.

Now if I switch over the data filled HD to the 325 along with the second HD & make it a RAID1, will it prompt me to format the HD with my stuff in it? I'm asking this since I'm inserting HDs into the 325 for the very first time.

I know that there's a way around the 323 to use it for Time Machine but I don't want to go through the hassle. I'm just gonna have it as a second bay once I get a third & forth HD.

Hi,

I made the switchover once 2 years ago but I lost all my stuff.:-( I inserted one of the disk into the 325 but it could mount it. It handled as a new one.
Probably it can be mount it via linux somehow...

But probably work if you insert the blank disk into the 325, then copy everything from the 323 to 325 and finally insert the old disk also to 325 and make the raid.

Of course before everything make a backup!
