Whats the most stable for rev b1? The firmware 2.03 that came on it had very high lag spikes while uploading even with qos enabled. V2.11 the latest fixed that but im having wireless issues where clients internet does not work have to.disconnect and reconnect. How is v2.07 i see that one brought up a lot
Of coruse i have factory reset and its not a client error as it.does.it.on both androids and pcs and connecting to a.different router or access point there is no issue. Also not an issue with the isp as accessing the router is.not even acceable during that time
-
v2.11 is working well for me...even did some gaming on XBL on the 2.4Ghz radio...
-
Ive also ran into another issue.. Not sure if its firmware or the router. Its happened twice already after about day 3 the router has to be unplugged and plugged back in for it to work again, WiFi works and local data works but WAN traffic becomes haulted on exactly day 3 every day, its not the ISP or the modem as I even tried this with a Static IP which my ISP gives for free if needed.
My Cheapo free DIR-601 Rev B stays online with no issue for a free router that DIR-601 is great! haha. The DIR-655 was free as well, but only because I got a free Newegg store card and had always wanted to try the DIR-655. I want to keep it, But I cant use it if its gonna disconnected every 3 days which is terrible cause I`m not at home to unplug it to restart it and Im stuck with no remote access to my server
So anyway What firmware should I give a try?
-
I wonder if you got a bum unit from NE ???
-
I got something up my sleeve :) I`ll give it one more chance. I re moved around my room tonight, With some help of WINE ;D I might post up some pics tommrow, but moving my room around meant redoing my network.
But I`ll give it another week, its pretty great Router, its rev B and beats the heck out of the Linksys EA2700 I had
-
Keep us posted...I do enjoy mine...
-
I`m gonna give 2.10 a try.
-
You might want to go back to v2.03 first. That was a very good a and stable FW.
-
With my 655 and most of my routers, I have to set the wifi channel to a particular one and not leave auto channel enabled.
If I do leave auto channel enabled I don't get wifi disconnects, I get internet disconnects.
If you haven't tried it, set your wifi channel to a less busy one. I use channel 1 FWIW.
-
only about 3 devices use the 655`s WiFi which are only 2 mobiles and a tablet. The WiFi Channel has nothing to do with the Internet part of the router dropping and not working while everything else is working.
Also I NEVER use auto channel lol routers never seem to get it right. My Main router is always channel 1, and my Access point is Channel 11. No other networks but a faint network that shows occasionally on channel 11.
Loaded up V2.03 been running for about 14 hours now, But the drop usually occurs after a a day or so. But things seem to be running a lot nicer.
Got a Good bit of devices too so its working hard:) Theres about 5 other devices connected as well but they dont show up for some reason, It happens with every router ive had though so not blaming it :)

Running Pretty Great :) Heres a SpeedTest I just took, My Upload is only 2 megs, but I have QOS running so it took some off. I love how my Ping is Lower to a server 3 hours away. Its always between 5 to 17 to Atlanta 3 hours away. and Its always 20 to 30ms only 30min away lol

Ensure you have your ISP check the signal going into the ISP modem. Could be on a threshold where the signal is good for a while then any sudden use causes it to drop. I've never seen this kind of issue with my 655 using any version of FW.
You might also reserve the rest of the devices IP address as well.
-
Its not the ISP. The signal Levels are my modem are extremely amazing for where I live.
-
And the ISP can confirm this? Just making sure here. You said that this happens with every router you've had. If this is the case, then your routers are telling you something. It's either upstream or down stream here.
Seems to be something related to either a router configuration issue or possible device causing the issue.
I might turn OFF ALL devices save or one and start checking and testing. Graduate turning on the next device and see how it goes. You need to narrow it down and find whats causing this drop.
-
Its not my ISP. It ONLY happens on this Router DIR-655. In the other post I menched that my Cheap Free DIR-601 Rev B stays connected and does not do this. About 5 other routers work fine as well in the past.
Also about my Modem its not what my ISP told me, Its what my modem tells me
1 Locked QAM256 21 93000000 Hz 10.3 dBmV 38.6 dB
2 Locked QAM256 22 99000000 Hz 9.6 dBmV 38.6 dB
3 Locked QAM256 23 105000000 Hz 8.8 dBmV 39.3 dB
4 Locked QAM256 24 111000000 Hz 7.3 dBmV 38.6 dB
Upstream
1 Locked TDMA 4 2560 Ksym/sec 29000000 Hz 33.9 dBm
At night time the power levels are a lot higher. But these are pretty good consider where i am at.
-
Ok then just making usre, I would start with your device and see what happens there. :-\
I've never seen this on my 655 with using any of the various versions of FW. Been all good for the most part.
-
Well right now still going good ;D Hopefully it will continue its a pretty good device
-
Right on. Ya, it's been a great router for everyone. It's been D-Links work horse. ::) Keep us posted man. ;)
-
I know! So Many revisions! lol. I do love D-Links Ubicom QOS the most.
-
Yep, been good for them. I wish they would allow for faster uplinks but thats another animal and debate. Probably won't see any changes on Rev A or B though. ::) Change is in the wind though. ;D
Keep us posted. ;) I'd be open to test your 655 out if needed. ;D

So New odd issue. Its stayed up but having Internet issues. Downloads ALWAYS go perfectly fine and max out in speed even torrents!. But loading web pages sometimes has some lag or have to refresh a few times and trying to watch youtube is almost impossible it pauses several times on a small video even 480p when directly to the modem I get 1080p loading no issue.
It could be my DNS I use Googles and or OpenDNS

Try this and test:
Finding Faster DNS Addresses using Name Bench (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53222.0)
Are you torrenting while attempting to watch youtube?
-
I already use that:) Google is still always the fastest for me. Nope Only 1 pc and nothing running when using youtube. But I can unplug the router and it work fine for a few hours before youtube starts doing it again.
-
Seen various issues with youtube and ISP services. Could be your ISP service...
