Bought a new DNR 322L, quick set up can't detect device at all. What do I do? Do I have to format the new hard disk first?
1. Firmware that shipped with the DNR is 1.3. Do I upgrade straight to 1.5?
2. How do I use DView Cam with DVR?
3. How do I register DNR with my dlink?
4. If my some dlink cameras are on another router, how do I monitor with DNR?
Frustrated as I have 8 Dlink cameras to monitor.
Can anyone shed some lights?

I believe the unit requires formatted HDD(s) to function.

I believe the DNS-322L requires formatted HDD(s) to function. The unit may store information to the HDD, which would be a reason for D-Link creating a dependency on the HDD being formatted before being able to configure the device.

Thanks for your help. I thought so. I was following the quick set up instruction. The DNR322L is shipped without hard disk. I will try to format the HDD first.
Can you also advise me on item 1, 2 and 4 above?

1. Firmware that shipped with the DNR is 1.3. Do I upgrade straight to 1.5?
There shouldn't be any reason to go straight to v1.5. Each version expands the number of supported cameras -- newer models may not be supported on older FW versions.
If you want to use the Wizard software (CD) that came with the device, you should run the wizard software before upgrading. With many D-Link devices, newer Wizard software is required to match the installed firmware version.
2. How do I use DView Cam with DVR?
You don't need DViewCam. The DNR-322L can manage all recording and monitoring.
3. How do I register DNR with my dlink?
The setup wizard will prompt you to add the DNR-322L to mydlink. After you upgrade the firmware, go to mydlink.com/support and download the latest Wizard software. The wizard will setup the device, search for cameras to add, and ask you to register with mydlink.
4. If my some dlink cameras are on another router, how do I monitor with DNR?
In the web UI under SETUP, there is an option to manually add cameras by IP address.
* I encourage you to go to mydlink.com/support and download the user manual (PDF), which contains screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

I have formatted the hard disk and re run the wizard. I am not able to locate the NVR device and hence can't setup. I need help.

I am able to log on to the NVR322L. Since I can't use the Wizard, my problem is how to register the NVR with mydlink.
-
Did you run the Wizard before upgrading your firmware as I suggested?

I decided to turn off my Network threat Protection in Symantec and the Wizard works. I encounter another problem with blank password. I decided to goto web UI to add password. The wizard goes on smoothly this time. Thank god it works. I did not upgrade the firm ware.
I am still unable to add other cameras manually that are connected in another wireless router. Can't detect other cameras. I have connected one camera to the NVR. No problem with my dlink portal access.
Question, how do I manually add these cameras from another router on the same. I have tried to manually add by detecting IP address, but it failed. Any idea?
Thanks for your help.

I have decided to remove DHCP from the second router. I am now able to see all the Dlink cameras. Work perfectly except the DNR frozen when I were reconfiguring the second router. I have decided to reboot the DNR and it finally works again.
Thanks for the help.

I'm glad everything worked out. Thanks for sharing your solution. ;)

Everything works but when I use the live video and playback, it gives me warning to install vcredist_x86.exe despite I downloaded and installed. Any idea why? All recordings works ok as I check from mydlink portal. Web UI gives me problem.

Try switching browsers. For different D-Link products, I often find that the web UIs behave slightly different for IE vs. FF.

I have got it working on IE. Firefox does not work even though there is plugin.
The DView cam works as well except have not configured for access outside home network.
The UI for mydlink portal live and recording view is must better than the web UI.
