Title: Left bay doesnt work
Post by: velocity_2k on October 16, 2013, 07:48:05 AM
Hi!

I recently purchased an DNS-320LW. I updated firmware to 1.02.
First time i turn it on i tried to use left bay, but it HDD wont start at all (no noise, no disk movement). After that i moved the same HDD it to the right bay, it worked.
I finally decide to use another HDD in the right bay to start copying my things on there. Copy process is done now and it is working normally.

But now i want to use the first HDD in the left bay to make a mirror raid, but it still doesnt working, and i know the hard drive works OK because i tested it before in the right bay.

What can i do? I have a faulty unit?  :'(

Did you try placing that HDD in the left bay more than one time? It's possible the HDD wasn't seated properly during the first try.

Did any HDDs work in the left bay? Did you try another HDD in that bay (unclear from your posts...)?

If the left bay is dead you can return to the store if that's convenient for you. An alternative is calling the D-Link toll free technical support number and have them create an RMA for a replacement device.
