Title: Which AVI. video player works?
Post by: Chadbk1977 on October 17, 2013, 09:01:28 AM
Hi.
Using a DCS-5020L camera and this DNS-320L Sharecentre to record motion detected video.

Windows media player 12 plays the avi. files sometimes, and sometimes I get this error message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file".

I've tried Windows Media Player, Windows Media Centre, VLC Media Player, Final Media Player, Quick Time, Itunes, installed the latest codec pack!

Nothing works, and I cannot find any support documents to say what media player and codecs to use!

What media player works and plays the avi. file type this Sharecentre records by default?

shouldnt you ask in some dcs-5020l forum? its the camera that decide the format after all

Its the Sharecentre that does the recording of the video streamed from the camera.

Let's try it this way.
What media players do all of you use to play the avi. files? and what troubles have you had?
I consistantly cannot play the avi. files no matter what media player I use.
