Title: Help please - Firmware update failure
Post by: only1zster on October 21, 2013, 09:10:42 PM
I've tried to update the firmware for four 5222L camera's several times all with the same result.  A dead camera. I even tried  once while on the phone with tech support to no avail.

I've downloaded the new 1.11, but with the problems I've had, I am wary of trying to upgrade.
In a nutshell, the download of the new firmware seems to be fine. When I go to upgrade (with a new download directly from Dlink) the install goes to roughly 10% but then stops and the computer fails to connect.

So, I'm assuming that either the file is being corrupted during download, OR most likely the antivirus software is messing up the install. Maybe it's a firewall issue.  Maybe it's the anti-maleware.
Yes, the computer and camera are connected directly to the router.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After you downloaded the file to a local PC on your LAN, did you unzip the file? -- you would be surprised how often users overlook this step.

Yes, the files have been unzipped.

Did you try connecting your DCS-5222L to your router via a wired connection?
Also, here's an alternate location to download the FW: FW (ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DCS-5222L/REVA/DCS-5222L_FIRMWARE_1.11.ZIP)

The camera is wired directly to the router.
The computer is too.
The downloads have been directly from dlink and the last one was emailed from tech support.

Try performing a factory reset of the DCS-5222L and try the upload again.

1) new camera - connects, works just fine.
2) download firmware
3) unzip firmware
4) log into the camera start the firmware update. finds the file. starts update.
5) update stops at roughly 10%
6) computer can not connect to the camera anymore.

I've done this exactly how the website says.  dead camera
I've done this with tech support on the phone, with the file they emailed me. dead camera

Hello All, I am new to this forum, infact any forum.

I'll be completely honest I tried to update brand new 5222L via wifi, I have since seen how many different
places it tells you not to.

Now I either get Solid Red light no link light or if I power up with toothpick in reset I get Solid link light
after red light goes out.

Cannot connect to camera with wizard etc.

Is there really no way to fix this? Please help?

Thanks
