I have my DCS-5020L FW 1.01 configured to email and ftp when Motion or Sound is detected at 70db.  Exactly every 5 minutes it emails and ftps an avi file that has detected a 'click' noise.  The click is not heard in the room.  I called tech support and the tech informed me it was a mechanical issue and the network engineers are working on it.  My ref # C6364726.  Anyone else have this issue?  It is only when Sound Detection is enabled.  If you click on Sound Detection, you can hear the click every 5 minutes as it monitors the audio.  Please let me know when this has been fixed.  I would like to puchase more of these.

Are there other users who experienced this issue?
On one of my 5010L, I have heard some sort of 'tick' while the camera is doing nothing... happens quite a bit.
I'm not sure if it is related to light detection, as I don't think the camera is trying to move...
but I could see how the camera would interpret this as a loud noise.
My other 5010L is muted to my ears from computer fans.
Of course, this might be a separate issue.  I guess I'll have to configure sound detection and see what happens.

Just bought a 2nd one to test but I'll be out of town for a week.  I'll try the same settings when I return.

I've had mine for a month or so.
I tried to set it up properly, but kept getting hundred of email alerts, with a useless link (was hoping to see a photo of the so-called perpetrator...)
I guess the email is telling me: Hey stupid have a look at the live feed now, hopefully someone is still there..
Even with Sound detection OFF, it sends a message every few minutes, I tried adjusting the area monitored... to no avail..
So I gave up... it's really only good to watch a live feed it seems.
I have hope a firmware or software update will provide a permanent fix. Call me the optimist.

Did you get this resolved?  I just got my camera and I get an alert every 5 minutes.

I've not had this issue with mine that I recall, although I admit I stopped using audio detection very quickly.  It was hard to tune to a level where it wouldn't create false alarms frequently.  And anyway, since it requires Java, which I don't want on my computer, I would not be likely to use the feature anyway.  One of my two 5020's broke recently, and I replaced it with a different brand that uses more modern web technologies for configuration.  D-Link is kind of stuck in the past with their reliance on Internet Explorer and Java and other things in some of their cameras.
