Title: Bizzare behaviour with GuestZone
Post by: ROgermare on November 02, 2013, 05:16:10 PM
Hello,
I wonder if anyone else has had this experience and can offer advice. It is truly bizarre
I have a DIR-645 and it had the normal wireless zone and a guestzone (GuestZone)  set up on it. I was having some issues with VOIP and part of the solution meant doing a factory reset on the 645.

After the reset I re-did my set up and rules, however there was no need for a guest zone so I did not set one up.
Imagine my surprise when I saw the GuestZone SSID being advertised (and you can connect)

I have tried.
1 . Creating a new Guestzone then removing it - No difference
2 . Creating a new Guestzone with the same name - it advertises two of them - No difference.
3 . Switching guestzone off in advanced settings - No difference
4 . I checked the logs and I can see the offer process happening for IP addresses.

The main reason I want rid of it is the guestzone is unprotected and open, but I am at a loss as to what to try next.

Any advice would be welcome. I suspect there is a table somewhere with the old information but I can't seem to find it to remove it.

Thanks in advance

Rounter is D-link 645 it is at the latest firmware from D-link 1.04

The issue is not with any browser, it is the wireless network
Prior to the system reset there was a guestzone (called GuestZone) with no password.

The reset was successfull and the patch level brought up to 1.04

However, with the guestzone set off on the advanced section of the router configuration (set by a PC running FF) wired to the LAN. THe router still advertises the Guestzone SSID. It is not another local router because it disappears when my router is switched off.

I can connect to the GUestzone using a variety of machines and browsers (ipad, pc, phone) (Safari, IE,FF) but I want the GUestzone off or password protected, and nothing I do in the configuration of the router seems to achieve this.

I have no idea how to fix this behaviour, because I have already tried the most extreme thing i.e. a factory reset.

Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance

I'll have a look at my 645 this evening...I recommend that you phone contact D-Link support. This router may need to be RMAd.

Thanks for that.

I have placed a call with support, but am still waiting for response. Will post any solution that I get in case others encounter this behaviour.

Thanks

I just checked my 645 using v1.04. Guest Zone is working correctly both ON and OFF. It's not listed on my WiFi analyzer when disabled.

Keep us posted.
