Hi, I have a DIR-868L (Hardware A1, FW 1.04). I was wondering if it would be possible to access the connected USB harddrive over the internet without using the Shareport option.
The webinterface is very limited and doesn't allow the features I want from a disk.
Any idea or recommandation is welcome! Thanks in advance.

I believe using Shareport or MyDLink are about the only options available. If your looking for sharing out or the WAN directly, You'll need to set up a dedicated USB Drive on a PC or connect the USB drive to a USB to LAN network adapter then set up a Virtual Server rule to allow access from the WAN side directly with out SP or mydlink being used.
You could possibly locally connect to the drive using this: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=46133.0 with a PC. Then use a remote control program like Teamviewer to connect to the PC. Teamviewer has a file access only connection that works great.

Hi FurryNutz, thanks for your feedback. Will have a look to an ethernet harddrive.
