Hi,
I had a Dlink DNS320 which died and was RMA'd by Dlink. They've given me a new box but obviously nothing is configured. My drives were previously configured as RAID 1 but when I plug both of them into the new DNS320 it can see the drives but I can't access any of the data. I imagine I need to set the box to work as RAID 1 but the only way I can see to do this is in the "set raid type and re-format" but I don't want to format the drives. Is there any advice someone could give me please?
Thanks in advance.

You'll possibly need to create the same users etc before you can access your data. Be careful though and only put one disk in the unit for now so you have your data still you could recover from.

You do have a backup of your data don't you?
First of all check that the new DNS-320 is the same revision as your old one - there appears to be some differences between the A and B revisions. If the old one was an A and the new one is a B then you would be advised to format the drives as RAID 1 and restore from your backup. If they are the same revision then try what hoppo1 says but be prepared to format if that does not work.
BTW search this forum to find how to make a backup from your RAID 1 disk set if you don't have a backup.

I don't have a backup as I always thought having a RAID1 configuration would give me the redundancy I need. In hindsight a full USB backup would've been good.
I suspect I have a different revision as the physical box looks different e.g. more curved than my original box.
I briefly had a look into creating a backup so I guess I'll need to spin up a linux machine. I was hoping I could just set the box to RAID1 and plug the drives in....Wishful thinking!
Thanks for your advice

Were you ever able to get you data off of the drives with the new enclosure?
