Title: 5010 vs 942 frame rates.
Post by: DRZ on November 11, 2013, 06:27:25 AM
I have on the same network (router) both cameras. The router is 1gbit, and I am using the 100base Ethernet ports on the cameras. When I use mydlink light, I have both cameras set to 480 (mjpeg, the only option). Then I check the frame rates, I get 1.2 fps on the 5010 and 8 fps on the 942 consistently. I cannot switch the 5010 to 240 resolution. Also, when switching between the cameras, it appears that the 942 takes a bit of time to show the stream, while on the 5010 the stream shows up immediately.... Has anybody seen this?

the two are not comparable. different price points. what the 5010 has going for it is its pan and tilt, otherwise it would be priced at 29.99 appropriately.

The DCS-942L is an older generation camera that's at least a few years behind the DCS-5010L/5020L series. I wouldn't place any emphasis on a performance comparison between the two models.
