Running all wireless off of 2.4 GHz but can't seem to run a new laptop well for gaming. Is 5 GHz preferred and how can I switch back and forth?

- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
You can switch between 2.4 and 5Ghz in the routers web page at 192.168.0.1 under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
There will be a drop down or a radio button to select between these two frequencies.
5Ghz would be better for gaming.

H/W Ver = A2. F/W = 1.22NA, which stated it was current, even though I saw the 1.25NA version. Midwest region.
Would I need to switch the router back and forth. I thought it broadcast both and the laptop would need to be changed, as none of the other wireless items will do well on the 5G.

Yes you'll need to change it back and forth on when you'd need to want to use it.
As a suggestion, you could get you an additional D-Link DAP model AP to attach to the 628 and you could use it with the 628, Letting either the 628 do the 2.4Ghz and the DAP do the 5Ghz. Or you could let the DAP do both.
