Title: dhcp disconnected
Post by: milicevic on November 27, 2013, 07:43:37 AM
Hi,
I've bought this router 2 weeks ago and since than, it was working just fine with my cable modem Scientfic Atlanta. Yesterday when I turned the router on, there was no internet and in internet option (Easy Setup) it was said that dhcp is disconnected. Tried with reset several times and installation all over again, but nothing. Flashed firmware 1.14 again, also tried with another cable modem and ISP, but still no success. DHCP is always disconnected no matter what. I think it's problem with WAN port of the router. So, shall I send it to repair shop or there is another way to get this router working properly.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

Try power cycling the ISP modem first then power on the router.

Swap cables between the ISP modem and router and test.

Why is the router being turned off. It can be left ON all the time.

I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.
