- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
- Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
- What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
- What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
- What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
Some info here regarding XB1:
Gaming and QoS for XBL (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42011.0)
Ensure you set Energy Saving mode instead of Instant ON.

router is
DIR-655
ver:B.1
ver.200.na
Modem :Mstatea
Isp:AT&t

- If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>Double NAT (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm) and How NAT Works (http://cognitiveanomalies.com/cisco-nat-how-nat-works/). To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.
Example of a D-Link router configured for PPPoE with ISP Modem bridged: PPPoE Configuration on Router (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=56344.msg219023#msg219023)
Ensure you set Energy Saving mode instead of Instant ON on the XB1.
-
would you possibly be able to take a look at my setting using team viewer ?
-
i do not want to mess anything up
-
Did you change the XB1 settings from Instant On to Energy Savings?
Send me a PM with ID and PW and please be wired to the 655 with a PC.
-
just did
-
So did bridging the ISP modem and putting PPPoE on the 655 help get you connected?
Thats ok and on known issue...once the modem is bridged, you can't access the modems web page any more...and you really don't need too any more.
-
Now you got the Modem bridged, follow the QoS sticky for getting OPEN NAT on XB1. Use the Single Rule using the global ports and remote Ips.
-
thanks for the help as soon as i bridged modem with router no further steps were needed Nat was open automatically after
-
Glad you got it working.
Enjoy. ;)
-
If i ever have any more problems i know who to turn too thanks man !

Come back and visit. ;)

just one more thing ive noticed that my modem dsl led light will go solid red at times and knock me off connection then after ive played with the dsl wire it will come back on is my modem corrupted?
-
Check the phone lines first. Ensure cables and lines are in good working order. Swap out. Phone line should be a 4 wire cable, not 2. Ensure the DSL line is correctly filtered. If your modem is old, Ask for a newer one or go buy your own and avoid modem rental fees. ::)
