Title: connectivity issue with DGL 5500 and IPAD
Post by: sbarbee54 on December 15, 2013, 05:41:35 PM
So I noticed this once I switched from my DGL 4500 to the new DGL 5500.   It will randomly drop connectivity, and as of today on my IPAD and my wives Ipad2 the Ipad will show connected but will not allow for any internet functions.  VIA apps or Safari or anything.  I am current on firmware, and checked everything and it all looks good.  Wondering if anyone else is having these issues or did and fixed it.  I would like to know.  I am about to send this unit back and go with a ASUS.

Try resetting the NETWORK SETTINGS on both iPads.

SETTINGS > GENERAL > RESET > RESET NETWORK SETTINGS

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
6" minimum safe distance between devices.

I am  in the process of doing this for the 3rd time now: Try resetting the NETWORK SETTINGS on both iPads.

SETTINGS > GENERAL > RESET > RESET NETWORK SETTINGS...

As that is what apple suggested.

I am in CA, a little back ground.   I am in the IP Security field, IE Ip Security cameras, Access Control, Home automation and home security.

And yes, I did a factory reset and did it from scratch.

•What wireless modes are you using?
•2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers:[/b] Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N on 5Ghz?

I am currently running : mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz

•Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.

I tried this as I read doing this helped some other people with connectivity issues.  No such luck.

•Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.

I tried the single more N on 11, no such luck ether on this, as this is what one of my DLINK MFG reps said to try.

•What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.

I have it set to this : WPA2/AES

•Any cordless house phones?

Nope, hate tele marketers so we don't have house phones.

•Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?

2 other locked networks running netgear units

•If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, HT 20/40 Co-exhistance and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Recommended settings are default.

Lost on this, need help here.

On the Wireless settings page, Try turning OFF HT 20/40 Co-exhistence, reboot and test iPads.

Id try Single mode G, WPA2 and TPIK only and test....

Are the iPads the only wireless clients effected?
How do wired clients work?

Everything else works fine, Xbox one PS4 my laptop wives laptop, those are all wireless.  MY hard wired PC works fine.....

I can change anything that will not allow those devices to or my wireless home automation and security panel.  Or even my IP security cameras and NVR. work
