Title: Remote Access to Synology NAS
Post by: avasile on December 18, 2013, 09:56:38 AM
Hello everyone.
I will need your suggestion on how to access a Synology NAS behind a DIR-655.
I had it working but I messed with my router and of course no backup was saved so i cannot remember how to do it. I do this pretty often and I know it should be a virtual application but I cannot get it to work.

My settings:
- LAN IP of Synology; 192.168.100.76
- port is 5000
- I want to be able to use the same port when coming in from outside; if not we can try something else

Please advise.
Thank you.
AV

Hello and thank you.
It is a A4, version 1.32 NA
It is a cable box with mostly static IP address ( it changes once every 2-3 months).
I wish I can upload an image but I did not see how....

I have the same settings as in the example you mentioned but different port numbers.

What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have? Just want to confirm that you don't have a double nat issue here...

I missed your reply ...
I am running out of options here .... I even called Dlink support .... it was not fun but I gave since the tech had no idea.
To simplify things I setup FTP server on my server - so now I am trying to setup a simple rule that will open t FTP access to the laptop ... no luck.

I used both virtual server and port forwarding .... it seems that I cannot use both of them at the same time since they will conflict.

Help ....

If your using any PF or VS features, disable uPnP and test again.

Ensure NAT is set for Endpoint Independent as well.
