Title: WOL in newer firmware
Post by: hackztor on May 26, 2009, 07:38:11 PM
Can I request dlink add wol in the newer firmware or atleast allow the people who want to foward the port to the broadcast to be able to. I foward it to broadcast 192.168.0.255. I allow only a certain ip address to be able to go through though. I use dslreports wake on lan tool since its service allows it to remember the mac addresses and then all i have to do is  sign in and click on the computer I want to wake up. Limiting the router accepting connection from this address is safe enough correct? As a user I would rather be allowed to do something then not allowed even if its more dangerous. I am still on firmware 1.11 because of wol support. I think many users would love to be able to wake their comps up from away from home. I would even buy a new router if it supported the wol feature!

yes
it is a very good idea and i don't think it is difficult to implement.
it is rather more practical than the Securespot. Human resource is more worth to be invested in WOL  function

I can enter broadcast address in virtual server using the preconfigured WOL entry:
