Title: Wireless IP Address Cycling Between A VAlid Address and 0.0.0.0
Post by: blackie on December 20, 2013, 04:25:18 PM
I am using a DIR-655 B1 at rev 2.11NA. I am accessing NETFLIX from my Sony Bravia 55" flat screen TV. It quite often gets into a loading and playing, loading and playing, etc. mode. Watching it makes you sea sick. Other times we go weeks without a problem.

I logged into my router and observed the wireless IP address for the TV cycle back and forth from a valid IP address and 0.0.0.0 - does this indicate that the TV and router are connecting and disconcerting? (In other words, my problem with NETFLIX?).

My signal strength is cycling between 94-100% (down to 88% sometimes). The data rate cycles between 52-96 MBS.

Any suggestions appreciated!

How far away is the TV from the router?

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.

Thanks for the greeting!

I think I have solved my immediate problem by locking in to channel 1 only and moving my TV receiver dongle around - we will see.

However - my question had more to do with the routers firmware. That is - what does the IP address of 0.0.0.0 mean when it shows up as the address of my TV in the wireless status window? I assume the programmers of the firmware are trying to say something - what is it they are trying to say? (The address starts out as an OK address - cycles between that an the 0 address - and finally locks in on a solid 0 - but it seems to keep working).

Any idea what the firmware is trying to say?

I've seen this before on routers...usually that the device attempted to connect and didn't get an IP address or the device is connected and is getting a IP address by other means, like via a Bridge AP or the device didn't connect correct.
