Title: dir-655 multicast issue: only works for a few seconds
Post by: nipmads on December 27, 2013, 12:11:13 AM
Hi there,

I've been using a dir-655 as my main router for a couple of years now - and thought it was time to change to the rev B version (it seemed that my old rev A had seen it's end of life)

the heaviest traffic on my network is IPTV (multicast) So obviously I've enabled multicast (for IPv4) However it seems very unstable:

first connect would not enable and join multicast groups.

Second connect after firmware upgrade to 2.09 joined the multicast group for 3 secs - and then "unjoined"

Third connect - all of a sudden it was working 100% Then a required reboot (due to power failure) of the router shut the multicast down once again.

I have tried to mess around with the firewall settings - but it confuses me to bits AND I'm now considering just using my old router- this does seem rather dumb though - also seeing as it seems the network is running smoother with the newer router.

On the rev A router the only setting which made it all work was to enable multicast, and changing back and forth with new and old works fine - so no ISP issue or the like.

any ideas?

thanks!

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.
