Title: "The page you requested is not available" error
Post by: omnishock on January 03, 2014, 02:17:54 AM
I just got a new 655, and I'm having some issues with it. I keep getting the "page you requested is not available" error randomly when I open up pages. If I refresh the page a few times, it usually works then, but it's pretty annoying. Also, sometimes it won't load a page's CSS, and it has issues loading pictures. I'm getting a lot of the 'ripped picture' icon especially when I'm on a page with a lot of pictures, like Reddit. Doing a Google image search is also next to impossible cause half of the results will just be blank.

My PC (and other devices) also randomly get disconnected from the internet. It says I'm connected to the router but not the internet, but if I power cycle the router without touching my modem, it goes back to normal.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.

BUMP
I just got the DIR-655 a few weeks ago and have been having issues with my Hardwire connection.

I am having this SAME issue as this other user. When I have my PC's hardwired it times out and does not allow me to access websites. It says, "An error has occurred when accessing this site" I also get the ripped picture image and it is slow to access information. This has been very very frustrating after switching from Link-Sys to D-Link to have issues almost daily.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL? Cable
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have? Cisco DPC3008 Comcast Modem
What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have? 10gb is the service we pay for.
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>Double NAT and How NAT Works. To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ. I have answered what I have done with "DONE*" Please help!

Router and Wired Configurations

Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options, Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel. - Have disabled Traffic Shaping
Turn off Advanced DNS Services DONE
Setup/PARENTAL CONTROL/Set to>None: Static IP or Obtain Automatically From ISP. DONE
Enable Use Unicasting (compatibility for some ISP DHCP Servers) under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking. Link>Finding Faster DNS Addresses using Name Bench
DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS ONE

Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting. When I try to used reserved address it doesn't work properly
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. DONE*
If IPv6 is an option on the router, select Local Connection Only or Disable IPv6 options under Setup/IPv6.
DONE*
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall. Enable or Disable SPI to test. DONE*
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking. DONE*
Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding rules. Where?
Enable IPv6 Multi-cast Streaming for routers that have a Media Server option. DONE*
Disable IPv6 Multi-cast Streaming if IPv6 or Media Server is not being used. DONE*
Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced. DONE for WISH* Why turn of WPS*????
WAN Port Speed set to Auto or specific speed? Some newer ISP modems support 1000Mb so manually setting to Gb speeds can be supported by the router. Advanced/Advanced Networking/WAN Port Speed
Set current Time Zone, Date and Time. Use an NTP Server feature. Tools/Time.
Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended.

Does this happen if you disable the 655 wifi radio?

I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.

3rd Party Security Software Configurations

Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

How do you turn off the 655 Wireless radio?

Hardware Version: B1      Firmware Version: 2.10NA For the Router Region Eastern? That what you mean there?

You can disable the Wireless radio under Setup/Wireless/Manual, just un-check the box.
