Title: Unable to copy files to DLink without network disconnecting.
Post by: rob.morris on January 06, 2014, 12:49:06 PM
So I got a DLink 320 Version B for a christmas present and since then I have been pulling my hair out trying to get the damn thing to allow films and photos to copy to it.
Every time I try and copy something over it disconnects the network on the computer I'm on.
Trying to copy over 150 folders with films in them has taken 2 weeks so far and it still hasn't done half of them.

It comes up with an error message saying
"An error occured while reconnecting to W: to \\192.168.0.32\Volume_1
Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use.

The connection has not been restored."

When looking at the write speeds I'm getting roughly 1-1.2mb/sec which compared to other people talking of 20-25mb seems mighty slow.

How is your computer connected to the network? Wired or wireless? Brand and model of router?

Wired connection via a ethernet cable.
I'm using Virgin (UK) Superhub to connect to the internet.

Windows 7 32-bit machine.

Are you using the superhub as the router or just the internet modem?

I ask because one of my friends had a similar problem which we fixed by using a switch for his network and the superhub as the connection to the internet via the switch.
