Title: I think My DNS is gone
Post by: muccettin on January 11, 2014, 11:14:36 AM
Hi There,
my name is Francesco from Italy, and I register myself...maybe too late...
I cannot access anymore to my DNS as when I press the on/off button, only the power blu let is flashing: no led flashing for Vol 1 and 2.
Somebody told me maybe is a problem due to the power pack, but trying with another (generic)power pack I still have the Vol1 & 2 not starting.

Does anybody had same problem (no lights for hardisks) and how do you solve it????
thanks greatly for help!
ciao
Francesco

Try powering down the DNS-320L and making sure the HDDs are both properly seated in the unit..

Hi guys,
thanks for replies. I tried with Factory reset, but doesn't solve the problem.
the HD are properly connected.
I contacted D-Link for warranty and seems they will send a new NAS in 10 days...now the question is
DID I LOST ALL THE DATAS???? ??? ??? ??? :o :o :o :o
i'm scared to connect the HD to the new has and see no data on the HD....

So long as your HDD configurations are not damaged, you should be able to drop your existing HDDs into a replacement unit of the same make/model without any issue.

Hi guys! my new DNS320L is arrived: I have dropped the HD inside and I see there are still datas in 1 of them, but I'm not able to access them because the Disk Management offers me 2 options but both needs to format my HDs and this means it will erase all datas on them...
Any of You has an Idea on how to avoid this procedure and be back to my datas????
thanks in advance!!!!

If you have a USB/SATA caddy, and you can boot Linux or Ubuntu on your PC/Laptop, then it should be able to see the drive. That's the easiest method I know. I've done this in the past to salvage data from my drive. With Ubuntu, it should know if RAID was used. This was from an older, NAS, the DNS-320.

P.S., Like what you experienced, I had my DNS-320L behave in the same manner, power LED flashing, but no drive activity. Luckily, it was still under warranty, went to the repair center and got a replacement unit. I had only one drive, and dropping it on the new box, it worked. The system didn't ask for the drive to be formatted.

@drc954: thanks a lot for your experience. In my case I can connect the 2 HDs, and I see some space is used on them, but when I press "Home" to access the library, the explorer browser shows no folder & no data...
