Title: Cannot view my DIR-826L on mydlink
Post by: RichA1 on January 14, 2014, 09:06:10 AM
I recently purchased and registered a DIR-826L to mydlink account, I already have a camera on there that is working.
I can view my router on my Android phone using the dlink app, and I can view it on my home PC on my network, but when I try to view it on another computer (work or otherwise) I get a "Unable to access your DIR-826L. If you cannot access your DIR-826L, please check that:
You have at least 256K of bandwidth
Your DIR-826L is not being blocked by a firewall or an antivirus program" error.

I actually had this issue with my camera, but this cleared itself up after the Jan.1st Dlink maintenance on the site, but I cannot view my router outside my home (other than my Android device).

Any idea what may be preventing me from seeing my router on any browser (IE, Chorme and Firefox tried) outside of my home?

Thanks.

Tried Firefox 26 and Chrome 31, IE8,9 and IE11 (current) I have the latest version of Java installed, current all across the board, and again Android works fine running on my carrier's network.
I have a feeling it might be Dlink's site again, unless there is a setting on the 826L I am missing.

Thanks for your help.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

I just had mine online up the other day when I took it down to test a different router. Mine was accessible remotely from work and I was getting notification emails...

Firmware 1.04 I have a cable connection (15M down and 1 up), it is my modem a four month old modem a Moto Surfboard DOCSIS 3.0 modem. I am in the US.
During the day I have wireless disabled, could this be causing it, but again the D-Link Android app works fine.
On my camera and the router, I did uncheck UPnP, but I had my camera running on an older Netgear router which had UPnP disabled, and it worked.

Model # of the Surfboard?

I had uPnP enabled on my router when I had connection with mydlink. I'm not sure if that would make any difference on the WAN side though..I don't think it would.

Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?

Ok, just wanted to make sure the modem didn't have a router built in. I have a similar MFr modem to yours and my 826L was connected and I was getting mydlink.com services and connecting remotely.

Ensure that any browser add-ons are disabled and any 3rd party security programs are disabled on the remote PC as a test while your accessing the router.

Do you have a trusted friend, family member that you can have connect to your account as a test to see if they can access it from there place? Maybe go to there place and ask them to use there PC to test it out?

Thanks, I will see if I can test this on a friend's PC, as I can't disable security software on my work computer.

Thanks for your help.

Ok, work PCs can be problematic with having all that enabled. There could be some issues there. Hope the friends PC will tell the tail.  :o Keep us posted.

Well, I never got to test it., Since it was only a week or so old I returned it, and I got a lower end model (I live in a small apt, so I don't need a long range router), I got a DIR-605L on sale at Newegg for $20. It is only 2.4 not 5.0, but it works well. I can see this router from my work PC. It takes several tries but it does finally connect.
Maybe I am old school, but I like the older style where you can see the LAN port or wireless LEDs flash when sending/receiving traffic.
Out of the box, I hooked it up, and it immediately had a new firmware from January, 2014 (it is a Rev. B model), so far so good.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

Well I connected my 826L up the other day. Been connecting to mydlink on my iphone 4S and able to see it.

Sorry that you didn't get a chance to test it out.

Come back if you need help and information for the 605L.

Enjoy.
