Title: DIR-835 - Connections problems
Post by: vpotvin on January 17, 2014, 11:21:59 AM
Hi,

I have read many post on this forum (by the way excellent job with the regular updates) and I could not really find the answer to my problem.

I've bought the DIR-835 couple of month ago and there always seem to be more and more problems. Here are the symptoms :

- Sometime, when browsing, i will click a link and it will bring me to the 192.168.0.1 home page for no reason. Then for the next 2-3 minutes, i can type any adresses and it will always bring me there. (It does that on my home computer, laptops and phones.)

- Very slow connection. Last day, the speed was very slow. When playing a game (Heartstone), there was delay for each turn played. I disconect everything and test my connection pluggues directly into the modem : everything was fine.

- My Desktop is connected with a wire, and sometime, randomly, I could be playing all night long and the next morning, when I open my computer, the connection is not working.

- Impossible to play Starcraft 2. For some reason, the rooter dosnt let me play online game, he disconnect me everytime. I have tried to configure TCP/UDP port and all those option and nothing seem to work.

These are my problems. Pretty disappoint since I paid more for this rooter, thinking I will not have those kind of problem.

In other post, you ofter ask these question, let me answer them :

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?

CABLE

What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?

Stand Alone

What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

CISCO DPC3008

Thank you.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
6" minimum safe distance between devices.

3rd Party Security Software Configurations

Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
