Title: browse, but no download
Post by: themoeller on January 26, 2014, 10:45:56 AM
I have an 820l, replaced an old netgear about 2 months ago.  Updated firmware, all of a sudden this morning I can't access news app on my Lumia 1520, gfs iPhone won't pull up anything or download any apps.  I tried uninstalling apps and redownloading, but it says check my internet.  We can browse WebPages, but no downloads, no Xbox live, streaming youtube works but no downloads.

reset my router, hard reset, changed settings, reset modem.  Reset phones, along with WiFi settings.  Still no fix?  Is it time to buy a Linksys?  This is my 3rd dlink, 2nd netgear.

bad luck?  Or are these just crappy routers?

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
6" minimum safe distance between devices.

3rd Party Security Software Configurations

Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection
