Title: Does it OK move HDD?
Post by: mylinkq on January 30, 2014, 07:55:53 PM
Dear admin and DNS-320 users,

This was my fault not to read manual properly but my DNS-320 has worked for almost 1 year. I have put my HDD on right side DNS-320 from the first installed and used (left side empty). There's nothing wrong happened until today.

my DNS-320 Right HDD LED was off (I still can access my data from WebGUI (admin account only) and from Windows Explorer but I want to add other HDD, the question is?

First, what happened with R HDD LED?
Second, can I move my HDD from right to left side without formated and data moving to other HDD first? (because if I want to add second HDD, format process will happen to Right HDD, I know it just right now).

I need your advised and direction.

Thank you
Regard,

mylinkq

It would appear that the HDD LED is faulty or there is a problem somewhere in the circuit that drives it since you are able to access your files on the disk.

Regarding adding a new hard disk.  If you are going to format the new disk as a standard disk there should be no problem - you just have to be careful that you select the correct drive to format.

It sounds as if you do not have a backup of your data that you have on the DNS-320.  This is asking for trouble, especially if you value the data - remember that disks can fail.
