If your going to use the 655 in wired AP mode, then any version or whats currently loaded will be ok. Most of the feature will need to be turned off anyways when you configure it for AP mode:

T?hanks . Im in the US ..
I dont have the new dir-655 yet , in the mail...
This will be my 4th router in my network. My house is concrete, i need a AP in each room..
They work great i get around 30/5 MBPS . I got a new HP officejet 6600 , had trouble with airprint on i-pad and i-phone. Keep loosing printer whenever printer went into sleep mode. Solution was to turn off SPi and multicast streems. Works good now .. these dlinks seem to offer better range and performance than some of the new AC routers. I took a new netgear AC router back to the store. Really disappointed for 200 bucks really !!!

Hope it helps. Ya, concrete building isn't good for WiFi.

You also might checkout DAP model APs as well for any future needs.

for all the money you have spent on routers you could have bought a few nano stations that will give you more range than you will ever need. I have 2 running where i work and i get upwards of 2km signal range. I live in a steel building about a km away and i get a better signal from them than my router in the house 4 feet away from me

Can you provide links or pictures to what "nano" stations are? These antenna or external APs?  ???
